The staff were affable and excellent. The location of this beautifully appointed hotel was incredible, in the very centre of the early Swedish history. Besides, it was near to the cathedral and abbey, Vadstena, and the waterfront of Lake Vaettern.

there were lovely beds and a seating area, a writing table, and iron/ironing board in the a double room. a bathtub in the private bathroom was a plus. location: the hotel was short walk to garden and home and the adjacent park and the historic downtown. we spent evenings at restaurang wasa, situated 900 feet from the property.

We were impressed by the monastery hotel. Beautiful rooms in the historic building. The entire monastery complex very well maintained, dreamlike location directly on the lake and very central to the small beautiful old town and the castle. Breakfast was very good in the "holy halls". We slept well in the beautifully decorated historical rooms and can only recommend this hotel!

It was just a well-suited match for a brief visit in Vadstena with reasonable value. The young woman in charge during breakfast was helpful and made the start of my day pleasant. Make sure to check out the lovely tea room nearby with homemade cakes.
